Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree? "Write at least 250 words in 40 minutes.

Article 1

Students usually start developing interest for a particular subject during the early years of learning and most of the times want to pursue that subject as a career. If the universities put a restriction that the maximum number of female or male students cannot exceed a certain limit, the surplus students have to study some other subjects they are not interested in. The students will lose interest in studies and ultimately their career.

Every person has unique characteristics and abilities. For example, some are born with good leadership qualities, while others with management. Moreover, for some mathematics could be the favourite subject, for others it could be the most difficult one. Similarly owing to kind nature of females, they usually choose health care related jobs whilst males strive for engineering. According to given argument if university put gender restriction on nursing or engineering or any other field, the students will be forced to choose a totally different subject which could lead to a complete disaster.
The role of a university is to support a person in order to make one’s dream true. So universities should not put a barrier that this subject can enrol 50% students of one gender especially when admissions are carried out on merit basis. Hence, for instance in engineering, there is more likely chance of enrolling female students with less potential and interest instead of bright male students. Additionally it snatches the right of bright male students. Whilst in a country like the UK where everyone has the right to live a life of one’s own choice, it will definitely be unfair.
Overall all the above examples do not support the given argument. Therefore universities should solely look for bright, hard working, motivated students irrespective of gender.

Article 2

Education has always been that treasure which was searched from centuries to gain and attain the higher powers. It has not only led to development but also made this world a global village. For education, universities play a cardinal role as the professions are decided here.futures are made..
It has been a fashion of old times that girls opt for conventional professions whereas guys choose whatever they feel like going for and which makes them the bread earners of the family.
Usually in professional institutions ,it has been seen that men always are more in number than women. It is a fair thing as men have to become heads of their families so they need to gain and attain the maximum professional excellence that they can get. Having said that,I am not at all endorsing that women should not get professional education but in my opinion, keeping equal number of men and women in universities is not fair.
Its an era of modern-age where there is equality in men and women but its a common practice for women to leave their professional careers after marriage, child birth and then if they are unable to manage between kids, maintaining homely environment and job but men however are not much vulnerable and the better the education, better the job and better the lifestyle. Many times,it was seen that women got jobs at high posts and then left them on trivial matters which hindered the success and promotion of their fellow men colleagues. In another example, women mostly tend to go the professions where they feel independent, secure yet open to work as much as they can and as comfortable as they can get like gynaecology, fine arts, cooking, baking and cloth designing and running boutiques..whereas men opt for army, engineering, police and other technical fields where their professional skills will flourish yet it is also seen that women are now going to unconventional fields too but they too are like grains.
It would be unfair and unjustified to put an equal number of women and men in all universities. This will not only block the developmental process but also will produce a lethal imbalance which will cause wastage of resources and man power. I am strongly against the idea of keeping an equal number of women and men in professional universities.
